Simpsons Auto Service is a certified safety and emissions inspection station. The State of Louisiana requires safety and emissions testing for certain parishes, and we consider it a privilege to have the ability to inspect your vehicle and keep you legally driving on the roads.
Safety Inspection: The Safety Inspection includes making sure that all of your vehicle's safety features are in good working order by visually checking the emissions system, vehicle's safety equipment, and the condition of the gas cap. On-Board Diagnostic (ODB II) testing is also required for the safety inspection
Out Of State Inspection: The Safety Inspection is performed on vehicles that are brought in from out of state, prior to being registered to Louisiana. There are provisions made for vehicles coming from states with similar emissions testing protocols.
Emissions Inspection: During the Emissions Inspection, special equipment is used to read your OBD. If you're within legal emission levels, then your vehicle passes the test.
Five Parishes Require Safety & Emissions Inspections
My Vehicle Failed Inspection:If you don't pass emissions portion of the test, you will be issued a Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR). This report describes the repairs that need to made to your vehicle. You will then be required to obtain and fill-out a Repair Form. It will need to be filled out prior to the vehicle retest, after the necessary repairs are made to the emissions system.
